I am an indie author, just like the clients I serve. I know the struggle you go through on your self-publishing journey. My Story
I am a late bloomer. I attended college and graduated with a BA in English at the advanced age of 41. So of course I ended up in business management...
My background is in mortgage lending and construction, and sometimes a combination of the two. But more recently, I spent ten years at a mid-sized construction company as Business Manager and Vice President of Business Administration. A good paying gig, but not totally fulfilling. Let's just say that my increasing responsibilities also increased my crankiness.
All crankiness aside, I spent that ten years knowing I wanted to write -someday. Someday when circumstances were just right, that is. You know, when I was financially set and could afford to give up my security.
But let me tell you, when you're staring 50 in the face, all of a sudden someday becomes now or never. So often someday gets pushed so far back that it's too late. I didn't want that to happen to me. I didn't want to get to the end of my life and scream, "What the hell just happened!"
So, just to reinforce my "late bloomer" status, I quit my job, moved to the mountains and started my writing career. So far it's not a great paying endevour. It's a trade-off, for sure. But I'm incredibly happy with the path I'm on. I'm not nearly as cranky. And I'm pretty sure my husband loves me more now!
